Soap has a very long history. It is not known when the first soap substance was made but firm archaeological evidence goes back to 2,000 BC with the discovery of a Sumerian clay pot containing soap.

The methods of making soap are almost as varied as the countries in which it is made. Yet the basic ingredients and underlying method have not changed for thousands of years. Most large commercial manufacturers complete the process in large enclosed containers where the temperatures and consistency are scientifically monitored. We use a pot, an electric whisk and an experienced soapmaker to do the same job! We believe our soaps are as good as a home made apple pie compared to one made in a factory… especially when the factory variety usually contains some very poor quality raw ingredients.

The method we prefer to use is known as The Cold Processed Method. This ensures that the minimum of energy is used to produce the final product. And since natural soap is biodegradable this is a very eco friendly cleaning product. And our methods are not a secret, we are happy to share our knowledge and expertise so if you are interested in learning more about how to make soap or other toiletries why not come on one of our courses.
